Strange Abandonment

strange-abandonment-logo-squareStrange Abandonment is now up and videos are available to watch.  I have more coming and more places planned so subscribe, hit like and keep coming back and checking them out.  Share them and tell friends about them.  I have some really cool places planned in the future so stay tuned.

Hazardous Material

hazardous_materialz-copy4It’s been a very long time since I had a chance to do some coloring and I found this in my to do folder.  I’m never satisfied with just color… I have to add some texture too.  This bad boy was drawn by Samal McNeally and the rest was yours truly.

The House

This was a house houseu0063as a kid I wondered what it was about.  It interested me to say the least.  It was close to my grandparents house and i never had the nerve to go inside… till I was 21 and I came back with a buddy and a camera.  After I took the picture, I altered it in Photoshop.

Down Gears

dead-gears If I haven’t said it before, I love old gears, rust and run down places.  I don’t do it much anymore, but I use to search out these things and places and photograph them.  I had a good amount of money put into a “film” camera and all the equipment that went with it.  When EVERYTHING went digital, I ended us selling all that I had because they went useless overnight.  So now I only have a little Canon and it just isn’t the same.  One day I will get a new set up though.  So it just isn’t the same to go out and shoot with this little Canon camera but I do sometimes still.  When I do, I like to add the StrangeCraft flair to in with Photoshop.

Eye of the Beholder

seeing-eye I’m not sure where you are at, but this week it has started to cool off and feel like fall here in Indiana.  It’s time to get creepy and settle down to a good horror flic.  My favorite time of year!

Skateboard Deck:

skateboard-5 I’ve had the pleasure to start working on some skateboard deck designs.  This is one of the ones that I came up with.  I have a LOT of old designs I haven’t done anything with so this is a great way to give them new life.

Steampunkz:

punk1 This was a picture that was meant to be for a kids book but we soon realized that it was way too intense.  I thought it was still a great picture so, while Samal McNealy drew it, I got to do the coloring, graphic design and texture.  What do you think?  Did it turn out cool?

Space Wallpaper:

monstrositos I made this a few weeks ago.  I have created some more items to make a bunch more so keep your eyes out for them.  If you haven’t already, come find StrangeCraft on Facebook and keep up with all the new stuff I get into.

Steampunk:

renaissance_man_punk-logo This was drawn by Samal McNealy.  I gave it color, texture and the old parchment look.  It was supposed to get a steampunk feel.  Had fun doing this one.

Marston House:

[SinglePic not found]This is a house that was down the road from where I live.  We had a tornado and it hit it hard.  A few weeks ago they took the rest down, but before that I got some pictures and added my special touch to it.  I hope you enjoy!

Steampunk:

together For those who like Steampunk, we salute you.  This was drawn by the great Samal and I added the color, texture, and shading with his direction of how it should look.  Took a long time to draw but I loved it.

The Doctor:

doctor-is-in00 This is a picture I took when I was cleaning.  I took it into photoshop and creeped myself out with how it turned out! =)

Tesla Gothic:

[SinglePic not found]I wanted to make a picture of Tesla but in a Steampunk way.  I actually came up 6 types of the same picture.  This one seems to have a more gothic feel.

Tribal System:

tribal-alignment I was wanting to do a fun wallpaper and I came up with this.  Now this is a bit old, but it is still cool.

Empty:

[SinglePic not found]I created this picture in a series of incarceration images.  I wanted to show madness, sadness, and fear.  This one was focused on sadness.

Peter T-Shirt:

peter-shirt I wanted to create a Peter Steele tribute shirt and this is one that I came up with.  He had a small cult following but influence a lot of people with his music.

The Piercing Light:

factory-light I took this picture when I was out exploring abandoned buildings.  I found a large area of abandoned buildings and had a great time going through them taking pictures.  This is one of the pictures I took.  I changed it a little bit with Photoshop.

Script:

script This was a project where I needed some computer wall so there was a day I made a few of them.  For this one, I wanted something a little grungy and something a little gothic.  If you are looking for something designed, colored, or trying to find a way to get your stuff printed, send me an email and I’ll see what I can do for you.

The Body:

the-body-small This was a wallpaper design that I created for myself.  I used Photoshop to create this.  I was after a dark warn look that I wanted to add anatomy poster images to.

Coloring:

trading-card This was drawn by Samal McNealy.  I later took it, colored it, added text and other things to it so make it what it is now.  If you are looking to get your drawings or cartoons colored, send me an email and let’s see what we can create together!

Furby 2.0:

furby2 This was one of the first designs that I created with Photoshop.  It was a joke that I came up with to mess with people.  I said that the new Furbies were getting “on-line” and becoming “self-aware.”  So out of that, this poster was born.

Script:

script I love this picture.  It came out pretty cool.  I try to stretch myself to do things I normally wouldn’t do to see if I can do it.  This is something I put together not too long ago.

Remakes of Old Films”

[SinglePic not found]

For a number of years now, we have seen an influx of movie remakes.  No matter if it is horror, action, comedy, or what ever it might be, we are being bombarded with them every year.  Is it a good thing or a bad thing?  In my opinion it is not a good thing at all.  Most of the movies that are being remade are classics already.  The outcome tends to be a half-baked yawn fest in comparison.  To me it also shows a lack of vision or originality.  For some reason people think they are paying homage by trying to recreate something that was great already.  In fact, it only highlights how awesome the original is by how trite the new one is.  I guess the good thing that comes out of it is that it reminds us to go back and enjoy something that may have been forgotten.  Don’t get me wrong, not all remakes are terrible.  Some are pretty good in fact.  In my humble opinion, the money used to create a remake could be used to make something new and unseen because if not, it just ends up in the “Under $5” DVD rack at the store.

Gore vs. Suspense:

seeing-eye

Over the years I have noticed in horror or even action films, gore has gone from somewhat realistic to realistic, to over the top and not realistic.  I’m personally a fan of older films that has some gore or next to none at all.  In my opinion they did very well because they used suspense, good story telling, and creative camera shots.  I watch some of the films that come out today and it almost seems like they replace the lack of story telling/creative film shooting with lots of gore and violence.  This is why a lot of new films are left by the way side in a short amount of time and more or less forgotten about.  I can honestly say that we can learn a thing or two from Asian horror films.  Yes there is still gore and violence (but not all the time), but their story telling and camera shots are amazing.  I can count on one hand how many recent horror films that I want to add to my library.  At the same time, I have tons of older films that I have backlogged that I want to add to my horror film library.  Hopefully we will get back to making great horror films here in American on an ongoing basis once again.
